Love River

The Love River has a beautiful reputation as the center of Kaohsiung, the shinny stream reflects the green riverbank, and no matter what the season you will find it to be a beautiful attraction. The Maintenance Office Bureau of the Public Works Kaohsiung City Government manages the viewing marine dock, bike path, water-friendly stairs, fountain and waterfall, observing balcony, garden walking-path, and modeling recreation square etc., all these reveal a wonderful area to enjoy and relax. After dredged, according to a survey report, the Love River has more than 29 different kinds of fish and shellfish, and often attracts many types of water birds.

The Love River has been an emotional inspiration to the city for hundreds of years. It displays various features in different seasons and offers a different atmosphere during the day than at night. The shaded park along the river is a favorite location for Kaohsiung’s residents to rest and relax.

Hsitzuwan Beach

Hsitzuwan Beach is located on the southwest side of the verdure Shoushan, it is only about a 10 minute drive from the Ambassador Hotel Kaohsiung. It is nestled at the mountain base, whether its sunset or sunrise, you will find the rosy clouds taking in the entire sky, it’s a gorgeous picture. Only comparable to a beautiful poem or painting, once the night curtain has taken effect, the fishing vessel lights sparkle like stars, decorating the ocean beautifully, thus it is a great place for visitors to appreciate the mountain and water views, and for lovers to enjoy a quiet stroll.

Chichin Island

Chichin Island is a long, narrow island, which you can access via a ferry or drive thru the Cross-Harbor Tunnel, their different sceneries have their own special features. Even though it’s small in size, Chichin Island has lots of spellbinding attractions. With a great prosperity, the Tienhou Temple with more than 300 years of history has already been listed into the 3rd-scale historical heritage; the pedicab drivers dressing in the traditional Chinese costumes (Tang) is another tourism spotlight of the island; in addition, the attractions like the Chichin Beach Park, Chiho Cannons, and the Chiho Lighthouse are the places that are worth the visit; moreover the fresh and delicious seafood on Chichin Island is so well-known, that you will have to stop and give it a try!

Chaishan Park

Chaishan is a treasury of abounding natural resources, according to the research, the park is known to be home to 769 types of plants, 64 types of birds, 9 types of mammals, and 21 types of reptiles, also countless insects and other animals. Being among all this you can listen to the gentle breeze and birds singing, breathe in the surrounding dense grass aroma and feel the vitality of the natural world.

Lotus Lake

The gorgeous landscape with wide-open water, Lotus Lake is the popular scenery of Kaohsiung City, it is located at the east of Tzoying Dist., south to the Turtle Mountain, and its north connecting to Panpingshan (Mt.), the lake is approximately 42 hectares. Within 500 meters of Lotus Lake’s west bank you will see more than 20 temples, they are respectively the Confucius Temple, Northern High Heavenly Xuan God (Xuan Wu), CiMing Temple, Spring and Autumn Pavilions, WuLi Pavilion, and the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas etc. The architecture styles of each temple, whether the stone carving, clay sculpture, copper cast, painting, cutting out, decoration, paint etc., these all reveal the folk custom of the southern Fukien system and local Taiwan, together developing the well-known tourism attractions of temples, and the artistic value of these temples that are very worthy for you to carefully appreciate.

Chengching Lake

Chengching Lake is located in the Niaosong Township of Kaohsiung County, on the outskirts of Kaohsiung City, and has the reputation as the “Hangzhou Xi Hu (West Lake) of Taiwan”, the lake has a great reputation world wide with three bridges, six attractions and eight view points of Chengching Lake, that allow you to embrace the quiet and refined lake and mountains views; in side of the park establishes the freshwater aquarium, ocean aquarium and unique ocean hall, that display various rare fish and shellfish, fully worth taking the time to visit and appreciate. After a throughout design, it has many complete leisure facilities such as boating, horseback riding, BBQ, and camping etc., thus it is a multi-functional tourism spot.

Museum of Fine Arts

Since its official launching in June 1994, the Museum of Fine Arts Kaohsiung City has become another new tourism spot of Kaohsiung City. This new Museum of Fine Arts is located in the Neiweipi Cultural Park of Gushan District, the outdoor Sculpture Garden spires the various styles of sculptures, besides the permanent display of the masters’ calligraphies and pieces, each of the floors has exhibiting rooms, and holds the international contemporary artworks exhibition regularly, several exhibitions of the masters’ pieces were making a great hit, and attracted tens of thousands of visitors to appreciate the artistic banquets.

True Love Ferry Pier

Its was formerly the military No.12 dock, now integrates the artistic designs of flowers and plants, and a mega canvas, in accordance with the seafront park, green planting, viewing overpass, and the visitors service center, together they build up a premium family-friendly water recreation park that allows you to listen to the waves and embrace the stunning views; on the other side of the pier is the old storehouse, which presents strong historical memories, the new and old architectures here, have found their new balances and integrations, together they create a new urban esthetic.

Urban Spotlight

Lighting is the central theme which was created by nine artists, for instance, the setup of the rainbow lights on the bus-stop pavilions, sidewalks, and lighting-box benches, space design integrates the views of square, lightings and water views etc., that naturally interacts man and the environment. The combinations of the surrounding department stores and shopping communities, thus developing a paradise possessing both commercial and recreation realms, and creates a unique expression of Kaohsiung’s night life.

Fisherman’s Wharf

Reconstructed from an old warehouse, now its neighborhood is surrounded by many cafés and restaurants, due to its high location, it embraces the complete views of the ocean and massive ships docking, also can overlook the Chiho Lighthouse and sunsets; during nights, you can order a hot coffee and enjoy the commercial boats passing thru the front of the gorgeous harbor ablaze in lights, meanwhile enjoying the romantic marine expression of the harbor city.

National Museum of Science & Technology

The museum is the largest educational institution in southern Taiwan. There are 18 exhibition halls divided into four groups: Scientific History, Information and Energy, Technology, and Commodities & Machinery.

Kaohsiung Film Archive

Kaohsiung Film Archive is the first cultural base to specifically promote image and art in southern Taiwan on a long-term basis, bringing people different visions and diversified film activities and providing solid film making lessons. It is expected to cultivate talents for the film industry and make people in Kaohsiung understand film art. It creates an environment where visitors can enjoy the world of film all day long.

Kaohsiung Museum of History

It was originally used as a government administration building. The building had symbolic and historic significance and be published as a Municipal Historical Buliding in 2004 which gave a more significant function in the cultural evolution. It hopes to let more people understand the development of Kaohsiung from remembering the past to planning for the future through the display of precious historic and cultural items and the result of research and promotional activities.
